The National Archives of Australia has developed specifications for a range of archival quality products. These specifications exceed the Standards Australia, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements for permanent paper. Papers produced according to our specifications are alkaline, made from the highest grade lignin-free pulp and exhibit sufficient strength to withstand high-speed office processes. The papers are manufactured so that they retain chemical stability and physical strength over long periods of time. All these properties are required for any Commonwealth record which is to be retained for more than 30 years.
Suitable for writing, printing, photocopying and laser printing. These papers should be used to create documents and publications that have permanent or long-term value. They can also be used for wrapping, interleaving and packaging. The paper is watermarked so that it can be easily distinguished from other types of paper.
