Lest we forget

Commemorative event to mark the 90th anniversary of Armistice 1918

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 an armistice was signed that ended World War I.

To mark the 90th anniversary of this event the National Archives of Australia is hosting a commemorative event to honour those who served.

Speakers Corner: A better place?

In this talk, Michael McKernan looks at the Australia that emerged after World War I – and finds a nation that was less secure, less coherent and almost overwhelmed by grief. He suggests that the legacy of World War I endured to the end of the twentieth century and beyond.
