CEW Bean concluded his official history of the First AIF by describing the role of Australian forces in World War I:

What these men did nothing can alter now. The good and the bad, the greatness and smallness of their story will stand … for their nation a possession for ever.’

In this workshop you will learn about records in the National Archives that document the service of members of the Australian military forces in the 20th century. You will see examples of the records and learn how to research your own ancestor’s military career using records in the National Archives.
