At the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 an armistice was signed that ended World War I.

To mark the 90th anniversary of this event, the National Archives of Australia is hosting a commemorative event to honour those who served. The commemorative ceremony is open to the public and will be held in Constitution Place on 9 November from 10.45 to 11.15am.

The event will also include a display of crosses created by local school students. The students will research the Archives’ World War I service records to find a sense of personal connection with relatives who served in World War I. The crosses will be on display in Constitution Place until 16 November 2008.

Following the commemorative ceremony there will be a number of public programs including songs, lectures and workshops at the National Archives from 11.30am to 4pm.
