Highlighting the humanitarian side of armed conflict, this exhibition comprises 24 photographs taken by professional photographers as well as Red Cross staff between 1971 and 2006.

Scenes depicted include:

  • a mother in Yemen receiving a Red Cross message from her son in Guantanamo Bay
  • war-wounded patients in Pakistan
  • a reunited Timor-Leste family
  • people looking for missing family members in Guatemala
  • a child sitting in the rubble of a bomb blast in Azerbaijan

Developed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), this exhibition commemorates 30 years since the 1977 Additional Protocols were added to the Geneva Conventions to refine and strengthen international humanitarian law. For more information, visit the Australian Red Cross.
