Customs records such as Certificates Exempting from Dictation Test (CEDTs) provide information about the small number of Chinese women living in Australia in the early decades of the twentieth century. Many of them, such as 16-year old Maudie Kim Kow and her baby daughter Chun Que, were Australian-born. This CEDT was issued to Maudie Kim Kow in Darwin in 1920.
